UK – USA Speakeasy

Our first meeting took place in an underground bare concrete room with the brief to create an intimate, cosy yet quirky leaving party for a private client. What unfolded was truly exciting.

The party had to celebrate our client’s time in London and look ahead to their move to New York. It had to be glamourous, well-done, creative and random. In short, our client wanted the space to be their very own underground speakeasy. With speakeasy’s and popup being at the height of fashion it’s easy (..sorry for the pun) to fall under the same old design formula.  We didn’t want this to be just another underground mish-mash space, it had to stand out and be unique. We wanted it to appear random to the eye but if you looked closer each element to mean something and most importantly contributed to tailored, personal and intimate send off. Here we could maximise on our team’s design talents using their attention to detail, creativity and lust for exploring innovative ideas to the full.

We could utilise the props we have at our fingers tips, and it was banging to see some of our old favourites like Big Ben come out to play.  Corners of the room paid homage the dramatic skylines of the two cities by using silhouette backdrops we placed along the concrete walls.

Miranda our florist, as ever, did an incredible job at softening this concrete environment bringing in foliage and herb dressed trellises, huge potted trees and hundreds of miniature clay pots filled with herbs. Shabby Chic some might say. Victorian apothecary and gin bottles filled with snatches of herbs, wild grasses and wild flowers were scattered on the dining tables under the cosy glow of hanging filament bulbs. Cocktails, relaxed dining, pudding station, polaroid station and a surprise Klezmier band performance brought this evening together- a farewell anyone would be proud of.
